Girls enrolled in our mentorship program
We work closely with members of the community to identify girls at risk of FGM and early marriage and enroll them at Cheposekek High School, a boarding school where girl's are safe and can thrive. Keyang Tipin Foundation provides tuition for at risk girls and the program has influenced more girls in the community to enroll and attend school. Our field team hosts training sessions and workshops for the girls in our Keep Girls in School Mentorship Program. The girls discuss sensitive topics such as FGM/C, early marriage, GBV, child rights and menstrual hygiene. Through our economic empowerment workshops, the girls learn skills such as baking and beading to foster financial independence.

Students and community members trained
We visited schools and communities in Pokot and Machakos counties and educated learners of all ages. The content of our trainings and workshops varied by community and age group, but mostly focused on reducing gender-based violence, menstrual health and hygiene and sexual and reproductive health. We provided resources for students experiencing GBV and sparked conversations about steps to achieve gender equity.

Packs of pads distributed
Keyang Tipin Foundation holds drives for menstrual hygiene products to provide girls with a year's supply of pads. We provide sexual and reproductive health and menstrual hygiene education, so that girls can learn to manage their periods with dignity. Our goal is that no girl misses school due to a lack of sanitary pads.

Girl rescued from early marriage
With the help of community members, Keyang Tipin identified a girl who was trafficked by a trusted adult family member and was almost forced to undergo early marriage. She was removed from that situation and is now a part of our Keep Pokot Girls in School Mentorship Program, giving her the chance to pursue her education and a brighter future.

Girls completed high school
We are thrilled to announce two girls in our Keep Pokot Girls in School Mentorship Program were the first cohort of high school graduates in 2024. This milestone is a significant achievement for these girls, marking a big step in their educational journey. 5 girls are expected to complete high school in 2025.
